Product Review: Fleer Ultra Marvel Matriarchs Trading Card Box
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (4.5/5)

As a long-time collector and card enthusiast, I had high hopes for the Fleer Ultra Marvel Matriarchs set—and this box didn’t disappoint. With only 12 packs per box and six cards per pack, I initially questioned the value. But once I started ripping packs, it became clear: this set is all about quality over quantity.

Packaging & Card Design

Right from the unboxing, it’s obvious these are premium cards. The packs feel substantial, and the cards themselves are thick and glossy. The artwork is a major highlight—vibrant, detailed, and respectful to the iconic women of Marvel. Cards like She-Hulk, Rogue, and Ghost-Spider really pop thanks to the stylized illustrations.

However, a small gripe: the font size and foil choices make some names nearly unreadable. If you’re browsing through quickly, prepare for some squinting.

Hits & Inserts

This box was loaded. In the very first pack, I pulled a 1-of-1 hand-drawn sketch card signed by the artist—a huge hit for any collector. The box also delivered:

  • Multiple pink medallions

  • Gold numbered medallion (#/200)

  • Fully Equipped metal card (Thor’s Mjolnir) — a solid, heavy card that stands out in any collection

  • Pop Culture and Screen Queens inserts

  • A-Force card

  • A couple of 3x3 puzzle pieces

I actually got eight medallion cards, which exceeded the stated average of six. No complaints there.

Value & Enjoyment

At around $250 per box, this isn’t a budget break. But the number of inserts, sketch/art hits, and overall aesthetic make it a solid value for serious collectors. It strikes a great balance between collectability and display appeal. Whether you're in it for the hits, the Marvel lore, or the unique all-female theme, this box delivers.

Final Thoughts

Marvel fans and collectors alike should give Fleer Ultra Matriarchs a look. Between the killer artwork, specialty inserts, and genuine hit potential, this set is easily one of the more exciting Marvel releases in recent years.

Pros:

  • High-quality, thick cards with stunning art

  • Generous number of medallions and inserts

  • Sketch card and metal card add major value

  • Strong all-female Marvel theme

⚠️ Cons:

  • Font readability needs improvement

  • Price point may be high for casual collectors

Would I buy again?
Absolutely. In fact, I'm tempted to grab another box just to chase more sketch and metal cards.
