91 PSA Cards Returned: 49 Gem Mint 10s, Massive Lorcana Wins & a Pop-Control Beavis Hit

When you send 91 cards to PSA, you’re either brave… or slightly crazy.

In this submission, I cracked open a mixed batch of Beavis and Butt-Head (1994 Ultra), Disney Lorcana Enchanted cards, and a stack of Marvel Masterpieces Carnage, Venom, and Captain America parallels — graded for a combination of resale value, long-term preservation, and personal collection goals.

The results? Better than expected.

Why I Grade Cards (Value vs Preservation)

If you’ve read my grading philosophy over at cardboardaddictdcs.com, you already know I don’t grade everything for the same reason.

There are two main motivations:

  1. Value Grading – Cards I believe have strong upside, liquidity, or collector demand.

  2. Preservation Grading – Cards I want encapsulated for my collection or to pass down to my kids.

This submission had both.

The Marvel Carnage and Venom pieces were mostly preservation slabs.
The Lorcana Enchanted cards? That was strategic grading for long-term value.

Submission Breakdown: 91 Cards

Here’s how PSA scored the batch:

  • 49 Gem Mint 10s

  • 24 Mint 9s

  • 10 Near Mint 8s

  • 5 Near Mint 7s

  • 2 Mint 6s

  • 1 PSA 4

That means over two-thirds graded PSA 9 or PSA 10.

I’ll take that every single time.

The Big Wins

🎯 Beavis’ Butt – Gem Mint 10 (Low Population Hit)

Beavis and Butt-Head

One of the biggest hits in the entire return was a Gem Mint 10 Beavis’ Butt card from the 1994 Ultra set.

When I checked population data before submitting, there were only around 11–12 PSA 10s. I had two copies, inspected both carefully, and sent in the stronger one.

It came back:

Gem Mint 10.

That’s likely around a $400 card in PSA 10 — and more importantly, it confirms that careful pre-grading matters. PSA didn’t play population games. The card earned its grade.

That’s what we want to see.

✨ Disney Lorcana Enchanted Cards Absolutely Crushed

Disney Lorcana

This submission proved something important:

When you’re meticulous about modern TCG condition, you can win big.

The Lorcana Enchanted cards were inspected carefully for:

  • Centering

  • Edge chipping

  • Surface issues

  • Print lines

The result?

A flood of Gem Mint 10s including:

  • Multiple Enchanted characters

  • High-demand playable cards

  • Popular Disney icons

The consistency on these grades tells me my modern TCG eye is getting sharper.

🕷 Marvel Masterpieces, Carnage & Venom

Marvel Masterpieces
Carnage
Venom

The 90s Marvel cards were more mixed — which is expected.

Older cards bring:

  • Edge wear

  • Surface scratching

  • Print defects

  • Centering inconsistencies

We saw grades ranging from 6s to 9s, with some strong 9s and a few disappointments. These were largely sent for encapsulation and protection rather than chasing 10s.

Still, seeing classic Carnage holofoils and Venom art locked in slabs? Worth it.

🇺🇸 Captain America & Modern Parallels

Captain America

I also submitted several modern Captain America parallels, including numbered versions from recent releases.

One highlight:

  • A numbered parallel (to 199) returning Gem Mint 10.

One low point:

  • A cracked PSA case on a Mint 9 Captain America that will likely have to go back for reholdering.

It happens. Not ideal — but part of the grading journey.

Lessons Learned from This Submission

1. Modern TCG = Higher Control

Modern cards like Lorcana allow for more predictable grading outcomes if you inspect properly.

2. 90s Cards Are Tougher Than You Think

Even pack-fresh 1994 cards don’t always translate to PSA 10s. Printing standards and storage history matter.

3. Send Duplicates When Unsure

I sent in duplicates of certain Beavis and Butt-Head cards because I genuinely couldn’t tell which was better. Sometimes you have to test the waters.

4. Population Control Concerns?

No evidence of it here. The low-pop Beavis card graded fairly.

PSA vs Beckett?

I mentioned in the video that I’m considering submitting more to Beckett moving forward.

The reason?

Subgrades.

I like seeing exactly how centering, edges, surface, and corners break down. It provides learning data that PSA doesn’t give you.

That said — 49 Gem Mint 10s out of 91 cards is hard to argue with.

Final Thoughts

This was one of the more satisfying returns I’ve had:

  • Strong Gem Mint ratio

  • Big Lorcana success

  • A population-sensitive Beavis hit

  • Solid preservation slabs

  • A few learning opportunities

Grading is part science, part experience, and part risk tolerance.

This batch proves that careful selection and realistic expectations pay off.

Some of these slabs will be listed in the eBay store to help fund future submissions and content. Others are staying locked in the personal collection.

Either way, this was a win.

If you’re grading cards, keep learning. Keep inspecting. And don’t be afraid to send in the card you believe in.

Because sometimes… it comes back a Gem Mint 10.
