Product Review: 2025 Fleer Brilliants Superman Mega Box (by Upper Deck)
Reviewed by: David Codye Satterwhite, Cardboard Addict DCS
If you're a Superman fan, comic book historian, or serious trading card collector, the 2025 Fleer Brilliants Superman Mega Box by Upper Deck is an absolute must-have. After personally ripping six boxes of this long-anticipated DC Comics release, I can confidently say that Upper Deck has delivered a product that balances visual appeal, nostalgic storytelling, and real chase potential. It is also priced well at ~$50 a box. Making it highly collectible worthy.
🔍 Box Configuration & Card Types
Each Mega Box contains:
14 packs per box
5 cards per pack
90-card rainbow foil base set
Exclusive Purple Parallels (Mega Box only)
What sets this product apart is its variety of thematic inserts and rare parallels, including:
Classic Covers
Superman Revenge Squad
World of Metropolis
Powered by the Sun
Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow
The Last Son of Krypton (Ultra Rare)
💎 Hit Breakdown & Pull Ratios
Across the six boxes, here’s what stood out:
We pulled multiple numbered cards, including green, purple, and red parallels (e.g. #/1938, #/999, #/499, and one Golden Flight #/24!)
Pulled 2 different Powered by the Sun cards (Mon-El and Supergirl) – stunning foil treatment
Classic Covers inserts featured iconic comics like Action Comics #1, The Death of Superman, and Superman’s Wedding Album
Strong representation of core and side characters including Supergirl, Lex Luthor, Doomsday, Darkseid, and even Mr. Mxyzptlk (good luck saying it)
Notably, the Purple Parallel set felt well-rounded — with enough variety that we may have completed nearly a full run across six boxes.
🎨 Design & Print Quality
Upper Deck delivered exceptional quality on these cards. The:
Rainbow foil board adds serious visual punch without overdoing the shine
Parallel colors (green, red, gold) offer strong contrast and enhance the value perception
Classic Covers set is a real nostalgia hit, beautifully showcasing comic history dating back to Superman #1 (1939)
The packs don’t include tear strips or perforations (a small drawback), but card centering and edge quality were consistent across the break.
⚖️ Pros & Cons
Pros:
Gorgeous foil designs and parallel treatments
Well-curated insert themes for comic fans
Strong nostalgic factor with Classic Covers
Exclusive Purple Parallels are a fun chase
Nice spread of serial-numbered cards
Price
Cons:
– Packs can be hard to open (no tear strip or perforations)
– Ultra-rare chase hits (Last Son of Krypton, Illuminators) are very hard to pull
– Some redundancy in lower-tier pulls across six boxes
🏁 Final Verdict
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5/5)
The 2025 Fleer Brilliants Superman Mega Box is a strong addition to the Upper Deck lineup, especially for Superman and DC Comics collectors. While we wish there were more ultra-rare hits across six boxes, the quality of artwork, foil treatment, and character coverage makes this a worthy rip for collectors of all experience levels. Whether you're after numbered parallels, classic comic nostalgia, or building a Purple Parallel master set — this box delivers. Also, at $50 a box its not hard to justify opening multiple boxes and collecting a potential master set.
